Rehua Marae

I tērā Rāhina i haere mātou ki te marae o Rehua.  I haere a Tipu mātou ko Rea ko Ngā Kiwi (tau 0-1).  I tino pai te haerenga.  I ako mātou i ngā tukutuku me ngā poupou me ngā mahi toi o te marae hoki.  Ngā mihi nui ki a Matua Mikaere mō te kōrero - ka mau te wehi!

I tērā Rāmere i hanga mātou i ngā tukutuku mō te akomanga Tipu.  He tino pai te mahi.  Me titiro koutou ki ērā.  Kei runga ērā i te wāra kei Tipu.  Ngā mihi ki ngā tuakana mō tō koutou āwhi ki ngā teina!  Me pātai koe ki tōu tamaiti i ngā kaupapa o ērā tukutuku...

Last Monday we went to Rehua Marae.  Tipu, Rea, and Ngā Kiwi from mainstream went along (thank you to the Ngā Kiwi team for bringing us along!).  The trip was very good.  We learnt a lot about the tukutuku panels, the poupou carvings, and the structure and art of the marae.  A big thank you to Mike for your talk - we learnt heaps and it was great!

Last Friday we recreated some of the tukutuku panels for Tipu.  You should have a look at them, they are on the wall in Tipu.  A big thank you to some of the tuakana that help our teina with their mahi.  You should ask you child about what the tukutuku panels represent - hopefully they can remember!
